Events and city festivals

The city of Reykjavík hosts many events and festivals throughout the year. The city has also organized and supported various celebrations over the years, including through the city's festival fund. The highlight of events in Reykjavík is undoubtedly Culture Night in August, but it is a central city festival in the truest sense of the word that appeals to a wide group of people.

Mysterious darkness, frost and veneer snowy slopes. The winter city of Reykjavík is certainly a magical place. It's important to make a happy day and light up the darkest days with a variety of events and festivals. Or just have a hot cup of cocoa with your family.

When the days begin to extend and the grasses begin to sprout, cultural life also takes a growth spurt. It's the perfect time to pop out and do some fun, while a variety of festivals like the Children's Culture Festival and Design March make sure you and your guests have plenty to do.

We recommend taking a leisurely city tour in Reykjavík in the summer – and especially if the weather is nice. Then our summer city comes alive and hosts a whole host of events and activities in every neighborhood. With all its shops, restaurants, and art galleries, the heaviest center of human life can be found in the city center.

Autumn marks a new beginning each year. As the days get shorter and the leaves fall, the ideal is to grab the opportunity and be surprised by innovations from the world of music and film.
