CoR Rainbow Certification

Regnbogavottun logo á hlið

All CoR sites can obtain rainbow certification. Non-city job sites can obtain rainbow certification for a small fee. In order to obtain the certification, employees must participate in training on LGBT issues and the program provided at the job site.

Objective of the project

The aim of CoR Rainbow Certification is to make CoR activities more decentralised, both for employees and service providers, thus preventing direct and indirect discrimination against decentralised people.

The certification process

The certification process is structured in such a way that sites themselves contact and request it, but the entire staff group needs to be involved. The installation is as follows:

  • Questionnaire and conversation with manager (for initial learning)
  • Outsourcing of the space, environment, websites and other content by incident
  • Training sessions for the entire staff group of 4.5 hours in total
  • Operational plan prepared by staff in consultation with an expert of the Office of Human Rights and Democracy
  • Staff Information Materials/Checklists (After Education)
  • Flags, logos and posters (once the facility has obtained the Rainbow certification)

It is important that the team is informed that they are about to embark on the certification process and the purpose of the certification, but manager support is key. In order to maintain the rainbow certification, the site must receive 1.5 hours of training at least every three years, but further training may always be requested as required. Education

Education is central to the Rainbow Certification, but it is based on a number of entertaining projects on queerness, and also focuses on exploring ways in which each workplace can be more queer. Overall, there are 4.5 hours of training, but the duration of each training is different, so the activities of the CoR's work placements are different. For some people it is suitable to spread the education, e.g. 3 x 1.5 hours 1-2 weeks apart. For others, it is appropriate to take a larger portion at a time, e.g. the entire education (4.5 hours) on the day of employment.
