Mayor's Neighborhood Days in Árbær
Mayor Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir will visit city neighborhoods over the coming weeks and months.
During Neighborhood Days, the mayor will visit public schools and other city facilities, meet with local city staff, talk with residents and representatives from community organizations, sports clubs and parent associations, and host open events where people can discuss issues with her and senior city officials.
Neighborhood Days will be held in Árbær Nov. 24-28.
Neighborhood profile
One of the main features of Grafarholt and Úlfarsárdalur is how close they are to nature.
The neighborhood boasts natural attractions such as Reynisvatn, Hólmsheiði and Rauðavatn, which provide endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and exercise.
Popular biking and walking trails wind throughout the area, and Úlfarsfell mountain offers excellent trails for people of all ages.
The neighborhood also includes facilities for horse enthusiasts, an excellent disc golf course, about a dozen open playgrounds and a first-class golf course.
Schedule for the mayor's visit
During Neighborhood Days, the mayor's agenda in Árbær includes visits to local schools. She will meet with representatives from the schools' parent associations and speak with school administrators and other staff members. She will also learn about other city activities in the neighborhood and meet with community organizations and sports club representatives.
