In-person learning

Norwegian classes are held once a week in person. In-person classes are for 7th and 8th grade students in the capital area. Location and times change yearly based on student numbers and where they live. Classes last 80 minutes, with additional homework expected.

Attendance is mandatory as these are in-person classes. Parents must report absences due to illness on the same day.

Remote teaching

Distance learning in Norwegian is available for 9th and 10th grade students nationwide. The course uses the Gschools online learning platform. Students must complete and submit weekly assignments.

Instructional consultation

We provide instructional consultation for 7th and 8th grade students learning Norwegian and Swedish in rural areas.
Our instructional consultation helps teachers and instructors who teach Norwegian and Swedish in home district schools improve their teaching methods and make them more effective.

Student assessment

Students must express themselves in writing and participate in group discussions in Norwegian. They must listen to interviews on sometimes difficult topics, write reflections, and contextualize the content. Students also submit audio recordings of themselves speaking Norwegian.

The course requires about 150 minutes of weekly work on assignments. Norwegian is a mandatory subject. Lack of participation (inactivity, unfinished assignments) is considered truancy and reported to the home school.

The course aims to teach students responsibility for their own learning.
