The City plans to construct nearly six kilometers of dedicated bike paths in 2025. About 2.5 kilometers are part of the Transportation Charter projects, which began this year. The development costs nearly 800 million króna. The status of Reykjavík's Biking Plan was presented to the City's Environment and Planning Council today.

Goal is 50 km by 2025

Reykjavík City aims to build 50 kilometers of dedicated bike paths by 2025. This goal seems achievable, with 45 kilometers of paths completed including ongoing projects. For comparison, this figure was 32 kilometers in 2020.

Another goal being met is increasing bike parking at City-run primary schools. The 2025 target is 5,000 bike spaces, with 4,800 already in place. In 2020, there were 3,300 spaces.
