Building Preservation Center

The Building Preservation Center provides advice on building maintenance and repairs. Experts in maintaining older buildings offer counseling at Árbær Open Air Museum every Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm, February 1 to November 30.

When and how is counseling provided?

Counseling is provided every Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm, February 1 to November 30. Phone counseling is available at the same time at 411-6333.

The building technology history exhibit on the lower floor can be viewed whenever Árbær Open Air Museum is open.

How much does the service cost?

The service is free of charge.

 

What is the role of the Building Preservation Center?

Knowledge and expertise are needed to interpret old buildings and properly apply information for repairs and renovations. Experts in maintaining older buildings provide advice on best practices before work begins. Technical solutions, color charts, building components and books can be discussed, or information on construction and preservation history provided.

The Building Preservation Center serves homeowners, tradespeople, architects, students and anyone interested in architectural history and preservation.
