Hi! The English site is only a beta for now and still has many errors (especially in names and locations).
We are working hard to fix them and making more content available than ever before so expect constant updates.
Serviced apartments are rental apartments for people aged 67 and over, where residents are served according to their needs. The apartments are for people who need more support than they can provide in their home. Social work and full food are offered.
To be eligible for a serviced apartment, you must:
Be 67 years of age or older.
Own legal residence in Reykjavík and have owned it in the last 12 months.
Be assessed in need according to the assessment criteria of the Social Rental Housing Code.
How do I apply for financial aid? You apply on My Pages. If you need additional documentation, such as a medical certificate, you will be contacted. By applying for a service apartment, the applicant authorises the City of Reykjavik to obtain data from other sources, such as home care and home care.
What happens next?
After the application is received, you will be invited to an interview with a consultant who will formally assess whether all conditions are met. The assessment is conducted in close cooperation with you and takes into account, among other things, mental and physical health. Social conditions and existing housing are also considered. An application is subsequently accepted or rejected.
If a service need is assessed more than one so that it can be accommodated in a service apartment, you are instructed to request skills and health assessments and apply for a nursing home.
Approved applications will go online pending allocation of housing. Until delegation takes place, you will be informed about the services available to you. If you have not received housing within a year of accepting an application, a consultant will contact you. In the course of the conversation, an application is updated, the status is reviewed and the possibility of being awarded in the next 12 months.
How does outsourcing take place?
Approved applications are ranked on a waiting list in order of priority depending on the outcome of the professional assessment. A dedicated allocation team will make an allocation decision when new housing is released. The applicant is notified in writing once they have been allocated housing and will have ten days to answer whether they accept it. The applicant who accepts premises subsequently signs a lease agreement with Community Housing.
The rent depends on the size and type of housing. It is paid monthly and tenants may be entitled to housing allowance and special housing support. You'll also receive a house fund and a service fee.
Serviced apartments are provided on the basis of the following laws and regulations:
