About Sigurveinn's Music School

Sigurveinn's Music School is the largest music school in Reykjavík, with almost 600 students. The school places emphasis on thorough and ambitious teaching, employing a strong team of teachers who are both specialized in music education and practicing musicians. The school offers diverse music education at all levels, such as Suzuki education, preschool, and instrumental playing classes on nearly all instruments in classical and rhythmic music.

The school's size allows for robust group work. String orchestras, guitar bands, flute choirs, chamber groups, rhythm bands, Suzuki groups, music theory at all education levels, and the Píanó Plús workshop for piano playing are active within the school. The music school also regularly offers masterclass courses which are open to all.

A large group of students undertake studies at the secondary school level, and the school’s offerings provide good preparation for university-level music education. Achievements in instrumental playing and music theory are eligible for credits at secondary schools. Sigurveinn's Music School operates in Hlíðar and in Breiðholt: Hólabrekkuskóli, Fellaskóli, and the Fjölbrautaskóli in Breiðholt.
