About Sigurdur Demetz Vocal Academy
Sigurdur Demetz Vocal Academy (SSD) offers singing lessons in the following departments:
- Children's Department (9-12 years)
- Adolescent Department (12-16 years)
- Soloist Department (opera divisions 1 and 2)
- Musical Theater Department
Teaching follows the main curriculum of music schools, including the corresponding subjects of music theory and music history. In addition, special emphasis is placed on drama education alongside singing studies. Within the soloist department, there are opera divisions 1 and 2, along with a special musical theater department (from age 16).
The school offers a diverse selection of singing teachers, most of whom work or have worked in the profession both domestically and abroad. Annually, the opera and musical theater departments put on stage exhibits, and students in the solo department also have the opportunity to participate in weekly choir sessions and regular concerts.
Studying at SSD has proven to be an ideal preparation for university studies in singing and drama, with a large group of former students now working in music and performing arts.
