Business parking permit
A business parking permit serves operators and allows free parking in paid parking spaces. The applicant must own the business and its premises, or hold written authorization from the property owner to apply for a business parking permit.
Main eligibility requirements for a business parking permit
- The operator's business activity must fall under ÍSAT 2008 industry classification No. 47 or 56.
- The legal residence of the business must fall outside tariff zone 1 but remain within a resident parking permit area.
- The applicant must own the business and its premises, or hold written authorization from the property owner to apply for a business parking permit.
- The operator's premises must not include parking rights on the lot — whether for private use or as a common area — as specified in a land-use plan, lot lease agreement, measurement sheet, lot survey, approved declaration of property division, or property registry filing, following the rules for resident parking permits.
- The applicant must be the vehicle's registered owner or operator, and the vehicle must carry Icelandic registration plates and be permitted to park on streets and in public parking spaces under the Traffic Act and police regulations.
- The applicant must have paid all previous business parking permit fees in full and must not owe any outstanding debt to Reykjavík Parking Service that has been referred to secondary or statutory debt collection.
Applicants who do not own the operator's premises must submit a signed consent form from the property owner authorizing the business parking permit's use.

Renewing a business parking permit
Business parking permits generally remain valid for one year and are not subscription-based. Permit holders must apply for a new business parking permit before their current one expires.
Editing a business parking permit
Business parking permit holders can request to edit their permit to change the vehicle registration number or adjust a business address falling on the boundary between two resident parking permit zones.
The following information must be included with any request to change a license plate number:
- Business parking permit holder's ID number
- Email address
- Previous license plate number
- New license plate number
Requests to change the validity zone of a business parking permit must include the following information:
- Business parking permit holder's ID number
- License plate number
- Email address
- Cancellation date
- Bank account number (optional)
Cancellation
Holders can cancel their business parking permit at any time if they no longer need it.
Reykjavík Parking Service will void the permit, stop future payments for those on a payment plan, and refund unused full paid months as applicable.

- Business parking permit holder's ID number
- License plate number
- Email address
- Cancellation date
- Bank account number (optional)
