About Reykjavík City social activities
Throughout the city, there are 17 active community centers open to Reykjavík residents of all ages. The goal of social activities is to prevent and lessen social isolation by offering open community and leisure activities along with a variety of classes. Social activities serves as a platform for community, human interactions, and creative pursuits. We strive to engage the initiative and skills of everyone. Lunch and coffee are available at all these locations. In addition, most community centers offer bathing services. Hairdressers and podiatry practices also operate at many of the stations.
Each location offers its own program, comprised of various exciting activities. For example, there are workshops, craft workshops, art workshops, and diverse club activities, gaming, excursions, dance, and physical education. There are also numerous annual and/or occasional events such as barbecue parties, fall celebrations, and þorrablót. Emphasis is placed on spontaneous social activities, and anyone can contribute to their development.
This is a service open to all Reykjavík residents without any special conditions. To participate in social activities, you don't need to apply - just show up on site. If you plan to attend specific classes or trips, you'll need to register.
