New tariff zones for parking will be put into use after the weekend in Vesturbær and the city center. As residents have noticed, the Reykjavík Parking Service has recently worked to install meters for new tariff zones. This work is now complete. This change has been announced before, but on Monday, June 26, fees will start to apply in these areas.
The areas concerned are:
- Öldugata, Bárugata, Ránargata and Vesturgata between Ægisgata and Stýrimannastígur/Hrannarstígur/Sólvallagata, Ásvallagata and Hávallagata to Hofsvallagata/Bjarkargata, and Tjarnargata.
- Þórsgata, Freyjugata, Lokastígur between Baldursgata and Njarðargata/Baldursgata from Nönnugata to Skólavörðustígur.
- Grettisgata between Snorrabraut and Rauðarárstígur/Skúlagarður (area - backyard behind Rauðarárstígur, Laugavegur, and Bríetartún).
Note that eligible residents living in tariff zones can apply for a resident parking permit. A resident parking permit allows the holder to park their car free of charge in a tariff zone within their card's area of validity.
