Mayor Einar Þorsteinsson presented awards for the best Christmas decorations in the city center today. Fálkahúsið received recognition for the most beautiful Christmas decorations, while Kokka store had the prettiest Christmas window.

The award aims to encourage businesses to decorate, as Reykjavík is the Christmas City. Decorations play a crucial role in creating a beautiful, cozy, and festive atmosphere in the city center.

Fálkahúsið at Hafnarstræti 1-3, home to Sæta svínið, Fjallkonan, and Tipsy, was chosen for its exceptionally beautiful decorations. The official statement notes that the stately Fálkahús in Kvosin shines brighter during Christmas, harmonizing with the ice rink on Austurvöllur. "The sleek lighting highlights the main features of this beautiful building, drawing pedestrians' attention to Kvosin's history and architecture while bringing Christmas to their hearts," the statement reads.

Bergdís Örlygsdóttir, Fálkahúsið's marketing manager, says it's wonderful to receive such an award. "We're very grateful," she says. "This encourages us to continue decorating and beautifying our city. We urge other businesses to do the same."

The official statement explains: "A delicate and beautiful wreath, a giant gingerbread house, and a gingerbread man peeking out the window create an exceptionally festive look on Laugavegur by the pedestrian street, delighting passersby of all ages during Advent."
