New recycling drop-off opens on Hofsvallagata
Underground containers are now available at the new recycling drop-off location in Vesturbær on Hofsvallagata. Surface containers for textiles and deposit-return packaging will be moved over the next few days. Containers for fireworks waste will be temporarily installed at the old site near Vesturbæjarlaug before New Year's.
The underground containers are for plastic, paper, glass, and metal. The redesign is intended to improve the local environment and give residents easier access to recycling.
Enhanced services
SORPA bs. handles operations and maintenance at the site for Reykjavík City. This year, service has been upgraded in cooperation with SORPA, and the sites are now cleaned every day of the week. These service improvements have had a noticeable impact, leading to a decrease in resident complaints. However, officials note that work will continue on projects to encourage tidiness at many sites.
