National Day, June 17, will have varied events.

A parade will start from Hallgrímskirkja. There will be concerts, street theater, a dance party, a circus, bouncy castles, playground equipment, food trucks, and an vintage car show in Hljómskálagarður.

The performers at the concerts include:

  • Emmsjé Gauti
  • Inspector Spacetime
  • Gugusar
  • VÆB

The acting group Lotta, Pippi Longstocking, and various dance groups will also perform.

Klambratún park will feature a DJ, dance groups, Þorri and Þula performances, plus food trucks.

Parking for the bus and accessibility

All major Strætó bus routes serve downtown on June 17, though expect some route changes due to street closures (street closure map here). Check the Strætó website for current route information.

Parking is available at Reykjavík Technical College. Enter the parking via Bergþórugata.

All parking garages will be open on June 17.

Accessible parking near Hljómskálagarður can be found on Tjarnargata, in the City Hall parking garage (note: elevator access to City Hall closes at 6pm), and on Túngata.

Hljómskálagarður is fully accessible.

The park will have a wheelchair platform positioned in front of the stage.

All Reykjavík City events and services follow the City's Accessibility Policy.

For travel service providers

Drop-off zones 1, 2, and 3 will be closed until 2pm.

Drop-off spot 8 at Hallgrímskirkja church will be closed from 10am to 1pm
