About Reykjavík School of Music Education
The Reykjavík Music School has been in operation since 1991 and offers a wide range of music education through both group and private instruction. The school follows the national curriculum for music schools. It has graduated many students at basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Students can attend classes in their local area. The main location is next to Foldaskóli. Other teaching sites are Rimaskóli, Húsaskóli, Engjaskóli, Víkurskóli, Ártúnsskóli, Dalskóli, Sæmundarskóli and Bústaðakirkja. The school operates in Grafarvogur, Grafarholt, Úlfarsárdalur, Árbær and Fossvogur.
The school's main role is to develop students' ability to create and play music, as well as listen and enjoy. It prepares students for independent music practice and further studies in music and related fields at college and university levels. The school has well-educated and ambitious teachers who use individualized formative learning. Students have opportunities to perform at concerts and other events.
