Fees for after-school programs and youth centers

Below you will find the fee schedule for the winter and summer activities of after-school programs and youth centers for disabled children as well as the fee schedule for summer workshops at youth centers for children ages 10-12.

If you make use of the services between 8am and 1:30pm on parent days and teachers’ professional development days or during Christmas and Easter break, you must pay for that separately.

The number of days for classes is not optional. Class length may vary depending on circumstances.

Fees for youth center summer workshops for 10-12 year-olds

If a summer workshop lasts more than one day, the price is multiplied by the number of days.

Workshops are charged with one payment at the end of the period, in mid-July. There is no sibling discount for the fee for workshops.

Please note that if you need to cancel participation in a course/workshop, you must let the relevant recreation center know in writing at least 11 days before the start of the course/workshop (e.g. before midnight on Wednesday when the course/workshop starts on Monday over a week later). In other cases, the fee will be charged in full.

 

 

Application for exemption from payment of day care fees at an after-school program/youth center for children starting school in Iceland

Parents of children who have moved to Iceland within the last twelve months, were not born in Iceland, and have a native language other than Icelandic can obtain an exemption from fee payments, according to the Rules for After-School Program Services and Reykjavík City Rules for Reykjavík City Youth Center Services..

The exemption is valid for after-school programs and youth centers for disabled children for three months during the primary school operation period and for three weeks in the summer activities of recreation centers.

The fee reduction does not apply to children who have a legal residence abroad and come to Iceland temporarily.
