Why civic design?

In a changing world, civic design is becoming increasingly important in service design and restructuring. Civic design aims to meet users' needs and ensure a seamless, efficient, and accessible experience. At Reykjavík City, civic design is crucial in identifying challenges and improving residents' experiences with the public system.

Diverse projects from the public sector

The conference covers various aspects of public service, focusing on civic design and user experience. It offers networking opportunities and diverse presentations from Reykjavík City, other municipalities, and institutions. Several leading global experts will participate, including Lou Downe, Adam Lawrence, and Cecilie Bang Schulze.

Lou Downe

Lou authored "Good Services: How to design services that work". The book was a turning point for service design worldwide. It serves as a guide for designing effective services.

 

They are the former design director for the UK government and a pioneer in civic design within the UK public sector.

 

Lou has been named one of Creative Review's 50 most creative leaders in Britain and among Apolitical's 100 most influential people in digital government.

Adam Lawrence

Adam founded WorkPlayExperience, a leading consultancy in civic design and user experience.

 

He is a highly experienced speaker and a world-leading expert in user experience. His background in comedy and acting contributes to his captivating presentation style.

 

Adam co-authored "This is Service Design Doing" and aims to make his lectures informative and inspiring.

Cecilie Bang Schulze

Cecilie has led urban transformation projects at the Danish Design Center.

 

She specializes in urban development and architecture, leading projects where design and urban development intersect, in Denmark and other countries.

 

At the Danish Design Center, Cecilie has worked with public entities and companies, helping steer their innovation projects by focusing on people's, society's, and the planet's needs.
