Talía Travel Fund

Talía is a fund owned by the Union of Icelandic Actors, the Association of Icelandic Playwrights and Screenwriters, the Association of Theater Directors in Iceland, and Reykjavík City. The fund's purpose is to support the performance and promotion of Icelandic performing arts abroad. The fund is intended for independent artists.

Talía eligibility

Talía supports members of the Union of Icelandic Actors, the Association of Theatre Directors in Iceland, and the Association of Icelandic Playwrights and Screenwriters to perform and promote Icelandic performing arts abroad. The fund provides travel grants. Conditions for receiving a grant from Talía require that applicants:

  • are members in good standing of one of the above-mentioned associations;
  • can provide documentation for international projects that confirms one of the following: a planned theatrical performance, dance performance, concert, or other performance involving media and promotional events abroad;
  • have not taken the planned trip before submitting the application.

Application process

Applications must be submitted on dedicated forms available on the websites of Talía member associations.

Applications must include a clear description of the project, the ID number for each participant, and each person's role in the project. A liaison or project representative must also be provided.

Applications must be sent to the Union of Icelandic Actors at Lindargata 6, 101 Reykjavík, or by email to fil@fil.is.

Grant amount

Each grant is for 55,000 ISK, but the fund's board reserves the right to increase the amount at any time.

Good to know

  • Travel grants are limited to members of the above-mentioned associations and are generally not awarded to one individual more than twice per year.
  • The maximum number of travel grants per project is 10.
  • The fund is intended for independent artists and does not support projects produced by public institutions or private institutions operated with public funding.
  • The fund does not support trips for meetings, attending conferences, recordings, or trips that do not involve live performing arts.
  • The fund board will not consider applications from previous grant recipients who have not submitted final reports for previous grants.
