Student discounts

If you are in school and have a preschool-age child, you may be eligible for a student discount.

What are the conditions?

University education that meets the credit requirements of the Icelandic Student Loan Fund (LIN) and enrolled in at least 25 ECTS units per semester. Secondary school education that meets the credit requirements of LIN.

What if we have another child?

If you have received a student discount and have a second child, you can reapply for the discount during your parent leave, even though only one parent qualifies for the number of units. Note, however, that the discount only applies for nine months. You must submit a confirmation from the Paternity Leave Fund that the parent is on maternity leave along with the application.

Certificate

A certificate must be submitted for each semester. It must include the number of units and a confirmation that the education is full time. The discount is calculated from the date of submission of certificates.

If a certificate from a school is not submitted with an application, it must be submitted within 14 days of the application. If it is not received, the application will be canceled.
