Thanks for coming to the Winter Lights Festival!
A large number of visitors made their way to the Winter Lights Festival, which was held in the capital area from February 1 to 3. Light artwork enlivened the street scene, the swimming pools offered an entertainment program, museums opened their doors and all events were free.
This time the sentence took place at the work of art Absorbed by Light at Hegningarhúsið on Skólavörðustígur. The work was on display at the Light Festival in Amsterdam, which ended in mid-January. This is a kind of participatory work and the artist refers to the use of telephones, three beings are sitting on a bench, they are there but far away in the mind. The piece was very popular in Skólavörðustígur.
21 light artworks were installed at the festival and the works formed a pleasant light trail from Hallgrímskirkja to Reykjavík City Hall.
Swimming Pool Night took place on Thursday in thirteen swimming pools all around the capital where, among other things, circus, relaxation, swimming ballet and disco were offered.
On Museum Night, 40 museums opened their doors and a variety of events were offered for the whole family.
