A consultation website has been launched, where ideas and opinions are requested from citizens who, through their participation, can influence comprehensive policy-making regarding the environment and conditions of children aged 0-6 and how to better support children and families with children. The goal is to get the views and ideas of those who use the service.

A steering group organized by the City of Reykjavík is working to formulate a comprehensive strategy for the environment and conditions of children in this age group. An important part of that work is extensive consultation with guardians and other stakeholders about solutions and opportunities for the future.

Your participation matters

On the consultation website, which was opened today, citizens have the opportunity to participate in the formulation of this key policy. Reviews will be available until January 15, 2024.

"It is important to call out different points of view on how best to serve children aged 0-6," says Magnea Gná Jóhannsdóttir, chairman of the steering committee."It is also important to note that one solution does not fit all. It is, therefore, necessary to look for diverse solutions that meet different needs and give people freedom of choice, while always considering the well-being of children. It is therefore extremely gratifying to go to an open consultation about services for children in this age group, as the voices of as many people as possible must be heard in such work. I encourage you to participate in the consultation and thereby influence policy-making regarding the environment and conditions of 0-6-year-old children in Reykjavík."
