The mayor's residents' meeting in Grafarvogur and Breiðholt was well attended
Mayor Einar Þorsteinsson's residents' meetings, which were held in Grafarvogur and Breiðholt today, were extremely successful.
The mayor first met at Rimaskóli in Grafarvogur where the meeting started at 11.00 and about 90 residents showed up to participate in a discussion about the neighbourhood. The guests of the meeting first had to list the advantages of their neighbourhood, then they had to list the things that could be improved in the neighbourhood and finally asked what the residents wanted the mayor to do.
The residents of Grafarvogur believed that among the neighbourhood's advantages was proximity to nature, footpaths, a child-friendly neighbourhood, low-rise buildings and strong sports activities. Improvements would be needed in public transportation in the neighbourhood as well as shopping, and the residents wanted Sundabraut in a tunnel. The residents of Grafarvogur believed that the mayor should prioritize transport, pay attention to improved public transport and promote green areas in the neighbourhood.
The mayor thanked the residents for coming to the meetings. In the next few days, it will be decided in which districts the next meetings will be held.
