Keldur Day is taking place Saturday, September 21. Visitors can tour the area, visit the University of Iceland's Institute for Experimental Pathology at Keldur and join a guided walk of part of the Keldnaland. An exhibit of FOJAB architects' award-winning proposal for developing Keldnaland, which includes Keldur by Grafarvogur and Keldnaholt by Korpa, opens the same day at the Reykjavík City Library in Spöng. Everyone is welcome.
Schedule for Saturday, September 21
11am: Exhibit opens at Reykjavík City Library in Spöng. Open until October 17.
1pm: Open house at the Institute. Staff will discuss the institute and its work in the library on the ground floor of building 2 (see the attached image). Afterward, visitors can tour the Institute grounds and learn about activities in different buildings.
2pm: Guided tour of the area with Þórólfur Jónsson, head of nature and parks division at Reykjavík City. The walk starts at the Institute and covers the Kálfamóar tree plantation, a notable green space on city land. Participants should dress for the weather and wear shoes suitable for walking on grass.
Development of Keldnaland
Keldnaland will be a dense, diverse and green urban district that benefits from its proximity to nature, good public transport and emphasis on diverse travel modes. CityLine will run through the area, offering residents more options with increased quality of life and good services. Residents should be able to live sustainable and healthy daily lives with eco-friendly transportation, green spaces, neighborhood gardens and squares. The goal is a vibrant urban environment.
Keldnaland is being developed in collaboration between the City and Transport for the Capital Area.
