The opening for the Children's Culture Festival was held with pomp and show in Harpa this morning.

Dagur B. Eggertsson, the mayor, officially started the festival and got the children in the hall to join him and asked them to make a wave with him. Next, there was an entertainment program where, among other things, an excerpt from the play The Dream Thief was shown, which is now on the stage of the National Theater, Hringleikur performed their arts and dancers from Brynja Pétur's dance school danced. Vigdís Hafliðadóttir in the band Flott then performed the Children's Culture Festival song, Kæri heimur, which she wrote with students in the fourth grade in Reykjavík, but the song is about peace. The kids responded well, danced to the song and the cheering never stopped.

There is a varied free program ahead.

All welcome!
