Summer City is now accepting applications for grants to fund projects and events that promote collaboration between the City and stakeholders in the city center.
The goal of Summer City is to enhance culture and social life, thereby supporting businesses; retail, dining, and other services in the city center to encourage residents and visitors to explore and enjoy everything it has to offer.
In recent years, the Event Fund has been essential for bringing entertaining activities to the city center, such as Summer Food Stations, Dancing with Kramhúsið, Street Food Festival, vegetable markets, pop-up concerts, and more that support a vibrant community and operations in the area.
Main requirements for grant funding:
- The project should invigorate the city and highlight the diversity of the city center, with a preference for events happening in the city squares (e.g., Káratorg, Óðinstorg, Vitatorg, Bernhöftstorfa, Boðatorg) and those appealing to younger visitors of the city center.
- The project should ideally be a collaborative effort between at least two parties.
- The project must take place between June 2024 – August 2024.
- The event should be open to many and free for participants.
Work related to buildings, whether indoors or outdoors, will not be funded, nor will marketing for individual business operations. No grants will be given for Culture Night from this fund.
Applicants can request up to 500,000 ISK.
