European Week of Sport 2024 - Join in
European Week of Sport takes place annually from September 23-30 in over 30 European countries.
European Week of Sport aims to promote sports and physical activity across Europe to combat increasing inactivity among the public. The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background, or physical condition. It focuses on grassroots participation and encourages people to be more active in daily life. Europeans unite under the slogan #BeActive. Various events will be offered throughout the country.
Reykjavík will host events in all neighborhoods, including a Sea Bath and Zumba party at the geothermal beach in Nauthólsvík on Saturday, September 28 at 1pm. Guests should bring swimwear, water shoes or wool socks, and old sneakers if planning to take a dip in the sea.
Reykjavík's swimming pools will offer flotation devices, water aerobics, and more. All city neighborhoods will offer guided disc golf tours, walks, strength training, dance fitness, and invigorating outdoor activities. Various educational lectures will be available, including topics on better sleep, improved well-being in later years, and maintaining peak emotional condition.
The European Week of Sport schedule is available at beactive.is and on the project's Facebook page.
