Environment Agency issues temporary permits for shooting ranges
Public Health Authority Environment
The Environment Agency issued temporary permits for Skotfélag Reykjavíkur (Reykjavík Shooting Club) and Skotveiðifélag Reykjavíkur og nágrennis (Greater Reykjavík Hunting Club) for shooting ranges in Álfsnes. The permits were issued on September 5. The clubs can start operations from that date. The permits are valid until the public health authority issues an operating permit or for a maximum of four months, until January 5, 2025.
The Environment Agency's decision can be appealed to the appeals committee for environment and natural resources within one month of publication. More information: https://ust.is/atvinnulif/opinber-birting/adrar-auglysingar-vegna-leyfisveitinga/
Both clubs applied for operating permits from Reykjavík Public Health. The applications are being processed. Draft operating permits will be advertised for four weeks on Reykjavík Public Health's website when ready. During this time, anyone can submit comments or suggestions about the drafts.
