A successful pre-Christmas celebration for secondary schools took place at Fjölbrautaskólinn við Ármúla in late November. Environmental committees from Fjölbrautaskólinn við Ármúla, Reykjavík Technical College, and Menntaskólinn við Sund organized the event. Reykjavík City's climate fund for young people supported the event. It's one of many interesting projects made possible through this collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The event aimed to educate students about climate change issues in an entertaining way. The circular economy was prominent, with each workshop designed from an environmental perspective.

Climate-friendly cocoa was a hit

Many secondary school students attended. The climate-friendly cocoa was especially popular. Other offerings included a clothing swap market, gratitude workshop, clothing market, Christmas in a shoebox, freshly baked cookies, and musical performances.

The Climate Fund aims to engage young people in finding solutions to climate problems and support new projects that combat climate threats. Grant requirements were that projects be designed and implemented by 15-24 year olds and directly relate to Reykjavík's Climate Policy. Organizations, groups, student associations and schools could all apply.
