East Center moves to Bíldshöfði 20
East Center will open at its new location on the fourth floor of Bíldshöfði 20 on Monday, Jan. 26. The center is one of four in Reykjavík providing services, information and counseling related to welfare, education and recreation.
The centers emphasize professionalism and strong partnerships with residents, associations and institutions in the neighborhoods they serve. East Center serves residents of Grafarvogur, Árbær, Ártúnsholt, Norðlingaholt, Grafarholt, Úlfarsárdalur and Kjalarnes.
The center has been located at Gylfaflöt in Grafarvogur for years. Its lease expires at the end of this month and was not renewed, prompting the search for new space. The new space at Bíldshöfði is larger and well-suited to the center's operations. The facility is fully accessible to people with disabilities and older adults, and its location offers convenient transportation links. There is also ample parking.
East Center's last day of operation at Gylfaflöt will be Thursday, Jan. 22. The center will be closed Friday, Jan. 23 for the move.
East Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., like other Reykjavík City centers.
Part of West Center moves to Borgartún
West Center's move to Borgartún 12-14 from temporary space at Austurstræti 8-10 was announced earlier. That move is now underway, and some of its services have already relocated to Borgartún. West Center's front desk remains at Austurstræti for now and will stay there for the next few weeks or months. Service users will be notified when the move is complete.
