Grant application open to the City Center Fund

Gleði í miðborginni

The City Center Fund is designed to support research, innovation, and development projects that strengthen the city center. The role of the City Center Fund is to ensure that the city center remains an interesting and appealing place for residents and other city stakeholders, the people of Iceland, and foreign guests alike.

Project funding applications are now open on the City Center Fund website. The application deadline is Nov. 1.

Initiative, innovation, and research

The City Center Fund empowers individuals, organizations, businesses, and institutions to pursue initiatives, innovation, and research in the city center, aligning with Reykjavík City's city center policy and the municipal plan's goal of identifying, documenting, and analyzing information on city center development. The fund's allocation rules prioritize projects that align with the vision and core objectives of the city center policy.

While recent project submission deadlines fell in the spring, the new extended timeline should better serve research, innovation, and development projects. Collaborative projects involving multiple parties carry additional weight in the fund's allocation review. Projects producing publicly accessible results and information also receive extra consideration during the application review. The fund will not support construction or renovation work — whether interior or exterior — nor will it cover marketing for individual businesses.

Eligible applicants include individuals, organizations, businesses, and institutions. Reykjavík City institutions and employees are not eligible to apply.

An application form is available on the fund website. Applicants must include a statement detailing the project, its objectives, and the execution plan. Applicants should review the fund's rules and contact the city center project manager at the Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer for further information.
