Building Preservation Center

The Building Preservation Center advises on the maintenance and repair of houses. Specialists in maintenance of older houses provide advice at the Árbær Open Air Museum every Wednesday at 15:00-17:00 from February 1 to November 30.

When and how is counselling provided?

Consultations are provided every Wednesday at 3:00-5:00 p.m. from February 1 to November 30. Telephone advice is available at the same time at 411 6333. A building technology history exhibition on the lower floor of the house can always be viewed, when the Árbær Open Air Museum is open. How much does the service cost? The service is free of charge.

What role does the Building Preservation Center play?

It takes knowledge and proficiency to read old houses and interpret and use information properly during repairs and renovations. Experts in maintenance of older buildings advise on how best to carry out the maintenance before the start of the works. It also allows you to discuss technical elaborations, view colour maps, architectural objects and books, or learn about architectural and conservation history. The Building Preservation Center is for homeowners, industrialists, architects, trainees, and all architectural history and housing protection enthusiasts.
