About the day care

Day care at Esjutún is for people diagnosed with dementia. It offers diverse group activities, outdoor time, workshops, light exercises and more to maintain daily living skills. The emphasis is on the enjoyment and wellbeing of everyone. People also have access to a hair salon and a podiatrist office.

Users are picked up in the morning and driven home in the afternoon. The service is available from one to five weekdays per week.

How to get a spot at Esjutún day care:

To get a spot at Esjutún:

  • You must have legal residence in Reykjavík.
  • Have a diagnosis from the Landakot Memory Clinic about a disease causing dementia.

How do I apply for Esjutún day care?

Healthcare workers apply for specialized day training for people with dementia when the diagnosis is available. Apply through the Memory Clinic (Minnismóttaka) at Landakot, which manages the waitlist, and Vitatorg Day Training or the specialized day care you're requesting.

What happens next?

When a spot opens, a relative is called and invited with the service user to tour the facility and discuss needs.
