Introduction to the Social Skills Fun teaching manual. Its purpose is to support individuals in building good social skills to interact well with others, build and maintain friendships, and control their emotions. The class focuses on how to use the manual effectively when working with children.

Introduction to Ártúnsskóli's method of making students active participants in their learning by giving them a significant role in shaping the class curriculum. The benefits and challenges of the method, the formula used, and the experiences of teachers, students and parents will be discussed.

Play, learning and joy

Introduction to a collaborative project between four preschools in Reykjavík and the University of Iceland, covering the project's focus areas. Special focus on children's spontaneous play, adult participation in children's play, and different approaches between preschools.

Children's Rights Convention in preschool

Introduction to a collaborative project between the University of Iceland, UNICEF and five preschools in the city working on children's rights in preschool activities based on the Children's Rights Convention and preschool daily schedule.


Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to break into groups and discuss children's participation in preschool activities.

Introduction to a collaborative project between Hlíðaskóli and the Hearing and Speech Center of Iceland aimed at making changes towards better learning conditions for hearing-impaired students. Obstacles and solutions will be discussed, as well as what advice school staff can seek for hearing-impaired students.

Introduction to the Nature Square (I. Náttúrutorgið), which is a professional community of science teachers, and the learning community around it.

Empowering learning: The art of using formative learning to achieve results with adolescents

Ugla is an integration of studies at Víkurskóli for the oldest level of primary school. It dives into various social issues, science and learning about technology through both Icelandic and English, guided by formative learning methods. Students will give short presentations on their experience with owls and how formative learning applies to them.

Challenging behavior in children: cooperation between teachers and support staff

General education on challenging behavior in children; what can be done, how the role of support staff is intertwined, and the importance of increasing cooperation and consultation between teachers and support staff.

How do we implement Educational Technology solutions in primary school activities in the coming years?

This presentation will cover the landscape in educational technology, what solutions are being used and what different approaches are being applied to the design and development of educational technology solutions.
