An Activity Expo for older adults was held in Tjarnarsalur at Reykjavík City Hall on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025.

The event featured presentations on diverse entertainment and activities available to older adults in Reykjavík. Among other activities, guests had the opportunity to try out passenger bikes that were available on-site. News on the Reykjavík City website.

At the Activity Expo, Líney Úlfarsdóttir, psychologist and project manager for “Let’s Talk” (“Tölum saman”) at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing, delivered a presentation on social isolation. Click here to watch the presentation.

Presentations on recreational activities for older adults
Community centers, youth centers, sports clubs, libraries, swimming pools, primary care centers, and other organizations will showcase their diverse winter programs.

BeActive

The Activity Expo is part of Reykjavík City's partnership with "Bjartur lífsstíll," a collaborative project between the National Association of Senior Citizens (LEB) and the National Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland (ÍSÍ) focused on health promotion for people 60+.

Sept. 23-30 is the European Week of Sport, or "#BeActive," an international campaign to promote exercise and better health. The Activity Expo is timed perfectly to coincide with this campaign.
