Reykjavík swimming pool accessibility

All pools

• Private changing rooms are available at all Reykjavík swimming pools (Note: private changing rooms are currently under construction at Klébergslaug)
• Private changing rooms are for anyone who generally cannot use the regular changing areas. Private changing rooms include lockable cabinets, showers, a changing bench, toilet and sink. Shower wheelchairs are located in or near the private changing rooms
• Walking frames are available at all swimming pools
• Accessible toilets are available in all private changing rooms, and some swimming pools also offer accessible toilets in the main changing areas and near the reception desk
• All swimming pools have received Rainbow Certification

Árbæjarlaug Pool

Access:

Two accessible parking spaces are located at the entrance, raised and heated. The building is on the ground floor and there are no stairs or thresholds. The main entrance has two doors. One has an automatic opener.

Changing facilities:

The men's and women's changing rooms are close to the front counter. A private changing room is located next to the indoor pool. All changing rooms have toilet facilities with toilet supports. There are shower chairs in every dressing room, and the private changing room also has a bathing bench. Access to changing rooms, indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs and steam room is barrier-free.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room/sauna:

An accessible lift is available at the indoor pool, providing access to the outdoor pool. A portable lift is available for the hot tubs. Accessible outdoor steam room and infrared sauna in changing rooms. The pool is close to all of the changing rooms. The edges of the tubs are partially raised and partially level with the ground.

Breiðholtslaug Pool

Access:

Six accessible parking spaces. Three in front of the main entrance. Three next to the sports hall, raised and heated.

Changing facilities:

The changing rooms are close to the front counter. A private changing room is located next to reception. Access to changing rooms, indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs and steam room is barrier-free.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room/sauna:

There are stairs into the pool. There are handrails around the hot tubs and it reaches down with the steps into the tub. A portable lift available for the outdoor pool. The steam room door does not have an automatic opener.

Dalslaug Pool

Access:

Two accessible parking spaces are located at the entrance, raised and heated.

Changing facilities:

A private changing room is located next to the general changing rooms. Access to changing rooms, indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs and steam room is barrier-free.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room:

Mobile lift available for use in the indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tubs. The steam room door is heavy.

Grafarvogslaug Pool

The private changing room is closed at the following times at Grafarvogslaug:
Mondays 8:30-10am
Tuesdays 8:20-10:50am and 1:10-1:50pm
Thursdays 8:40am-1:50pm

Access:

Two accessible parking spaces are located at the entrance, raised and heated.

Changing facilities:

A private changing room is located next to the indoor pool. Access to changing rooms, indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs and steam room is barrier-free.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room/sauna:

An accessible lift is available for the indoor pool and a portable lift for the outdoor pool. A ramp is located next to the outdoor pool. The steam room door is heavy. Sauna barrels are located in the outdoor area with steps.

Laugardalslaug Pool

Access:

Five accessible parking spaces in front of the main entrance, raised and heated.

Changing facilities:

Sauna barrels are located in the outdoor area with steps. Access to changing rooms, indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs and steam room is barrier-free.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room:

A portable lift at the outdoor pool. An accessible lift at the salt water tub. Other hot tubs are not accessible to everyone.

Sundhöll

Access:

Two accessible parking spaces in front of the main entrance, raised and heated. Doors have automatic openers.

Changing facilities:

Two private changing rooms next to the women's changing room. Obstruction-free access to changing rooms in the outdoor pool area. Access between the indoor pool and outdoor pool area is available via stairs and an accessible lift. Access to the old hot tubs is via stairs only and therefore not accessible to everyone. An accessible lift is available in the reception area.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room/sauna:

An accessible lift for the outdoor pool. A portable lift at the outdoor whirlpool bath. Other hot tubs are not accessible to everyone. Steam room in the new pool area is accessible. The sauna room is very small and not accessible to everyone.

Vesturbæjarlaug Pool

Access:

Two accessible parking spaces in front of the entrance to the annex.

Changing facilities:

One private changing room in the annex next to the outdoor changing rooms. General changing rooms have steps and are therefore not accessible to everyone. Access to the outdoor pool, hot tubs and steam room is barrier-free.

Facilities at swimming pool/hot tubs/steam room:

An accessible lift for the children's pool. The steam room door is heavy.

Klébergslaug Pool

Access:

One accessible parking space in front of the main entrance.

Changing facilities and amenities at swimming pool/hot tubs/sauna:

Obstruction-free access to changing rooms and pool area. No accessible lift. There are steps in the sauna room, making it inaccessible to some visitors.
