Description:

Develop a climate declaration for tourism in the capital area. Visit Reykjavík promotes Reykjavík as a destination, and the definition of that destination covers the entire capital area. One of their focus areas is sustainable tourism, and the climate declaration will include green transportation options and promote more environmentally friendly travel experiences.

The declaration will be developed in partnership with Visit Reykjavík member companies and will place special emphasis on green transportation.

The potential reduction in greenhouse gas emissions has not yet been estimated. Developing the declaration includes establishing this metric. One possible approach could be a travel behavior survey among tourists.
