Púlsinn
Púlsinn, an Emergency Response Team for children ages 10-18 who use or threaten physical abuse, as well as for their families.
Púlsinn is a collaborative project among the capital area municipalities, the capital area police, and The National Agency for Children and Families.
Emergency response team for youth violence
Schools, youth centers, social and child protection services, police, and other agencies serving children can engage the Púlsinn team.
The team provides temporary support for each child's case—ranging from a few days to several weeks—in partnership with their municipality of legal residence.
Púlsinn goals
The goal of Púlsinn is to quickly respond to violent behavior, support the child and family, and prevent further violence. The team is staffed by social workers and a psychologist, along with individual counselors and other professionals who support children and their families.
Violence must have been used intentionally for Púlsinn to get involved, and services are tailored to each child's individual needs. Services can include in-home parenting counseling, support during school hours, temporary off-campus support during the school day, individualized support, and psychological services for either the children in the program or their families.
Requesting Púlsinn's involvement
Service providers should contact Púlsinn by phone or email for consultation when intentional threats or acts of violence occur among children ages 10-18 with legal residence in the capital area. Sharing personally identifiable information is not required at this stage to determine whether Púlsinn's involvement is appropriate.
