Public Security Committee

The Public Security Committee operates according to the Civil Protection Act No. 82/2008. At the meeting of the City Executive Council on December 9, 2003, members approved the operational structure for the Public Security Committee of the capital area. This committee includes representatives from Reykjavík City and the municipalities of Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur, Kjós, Mosfellsbær, and Seltjarnarnes.

This committee includes representatives from Reykjavík City and the municipalities of Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur, Kjós, Mosfellsbær, and Seltjarnarnes.

The Public Security Committee consists of the executive directors from the member municipalities, plus one elected representative from each. It also includes the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief, who also serves as the executive director of the committee.

The Committee is based at the Capital Region Fire Service, Skógarhlíð 14.
