Preschool and Day Care Council

At its June 2, 2026, meeting, the City Council approved establishing a Preschool and Day Care Council. The Council will oversee preschool and child day care as defined in Article 3 of the School & Recreation Council's charter, including the preschool board's responsibilities under the Preschool Act No. 90/2008 and the social affairs committee's duties under Article 34 of the Municipalities' Social Services Act No. 40/1991 regarding home-based day care. In consultation with the School & Recreation Council, the Presidium will draft a charter for the council. The Presidium will submit the proposed charter, along with amendments to the School & Recreation Council's charter, for approval at the City Council's first meeting in September 2026. Until a new charter is adopted, the Council will operate under the School & Recreation Council's charter.
