Swimming-pools and museums remain closed

Covid-19

The Civil Protection Committee for the Greater Capital Area has issued an official notice on COVID-19 response.

The capital area is now at a sensitive phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Numbers of infections have been declining in recent days.  The next few days will be crucial for taking further control of this wave of infections, in order to be able to reduce infection-control measures again instead of tightening them even more.

The Epidemiological and Civil Defence Authorities have encouraged everyone, especially those who live within the capital area, to continue for the next few weeks to avoid group gatherings as well as socializing with people outside their closest circle.

The aim is to reduce the spread of the virus, and prevent increased pressure on the health system.

It is important for the community as a whole, that schools remain open.  Strong emphasis is therefore placed on limiting the social contact between children and teenagers from different pre-schools and compulsory schools within the region.  Otherwise, a single infection can lead to quarantining or isolation of unnecessarily large groups from more than one school.

After thorough assessment and in consultation with the Civil Defence of the Capital Area, the Departments of Education and Sport Activities of all 6 municipalities within the metropolitan region decided that all physical education will take place outdoors in line with maximum infection control.  Swimming lessons will also be suspended.

All sport premises and swimming-pools run by the municipalities will remain closed.  The same applies to museums run by the municipalities.

This decision will be revised by the end of next week, in collaboration with the Chief Epidemiologist.
