The deadline for the application of a special sports and leisure activities grant has been extended until July 31. The amount of the support is 45.000 ISK for each child and you can get the grant for activities registered after September 2020.

Families can apply for a special sports and leisure activities grant, which comes as an addition to other grants, such as the Leisure Activity Card. The grant is part of the Covid-19 pandemic response by the Minister of Social Affairs and Children. Its main objective is to give children equal access to sports and other leisure activities. Initially the deadline was March 1st but has now been extended to April 15th.

The grant can be received for children born in the years of 2005–2014 living in households where income was less than 740.000 ISK per month, on average, in the months of March–July 2020. The grant is 45.000 ISK for every child. It can be used to pay for sports, musical education and other leisure activities. Receipts for sports or leisure activities that have already been paid for since autumn 2020 may be eligible for a refund.
