Reykjavík City turns 240 on Aug. 18, celebrating the milestone on Culture Night, Saturday, Aug. 22.

Culture Night is Reykjavík's largest birthday celebration and Partner Festival, featuring more than 400 events organized by residents, artists, restaurant and shop owners, and cultural institutions. Preparations require extensive logistics, including safety, accessibility, street closures, and the upkeep of municipal land.

Roughly 100 Reykjavík City employees and contractors installed approximately 200 traffic cones, 350 information signs, and 60 barriers. Police and emergency responders will be on hand to ensure the event runs smoothly.
