The Week6 sexual health initiative took place Feb. 3-7, marking its sixth year with participation from numerous primary schools, youth centers and preschools. The Reykjavík Gender Equality Academy developed four age-appropriate educational packages focused on this year's theme of the body and genitalia. The week featured many successful activities, including a visit from Gender Equality Academy project managers to Hlíðaskóli on Friday, Feb. 7, where they celebrated Week6's final day with special events.

Collaborating across grade levels

Elva Dögg Númadóttir, project manager at Hlíðaskóli, explains that enhancing structured life skills education has been a longstanding school priority. Week6 supports this goal, and this year's Friday celebration featured engaging cross-grade group activities designed to build community spirit and foster a positive school environment. The activities and workstations were structured to ensure everyone could participate meaningfully, with defined roles that promoted joy and well-being. Elva notes that teachers utilize the days before and after Week6 for preparation and follow-up, with content always tailored to students' age and developmental levels.

Following the activities, students enjoyed hot dogs and cupcakes for lunch before gathering in the school hall for dancing.
