Innovation Week in Reykjavík
Iceland Innovation Week kicked off in Reykjavík today and continues throughout the week featuring numerous innovation-related events and presentations. Iceland Innovation Week is an international event that has drawn many foreign visitors to Reykjavík this week.
Reykjavík City is one of the sponsors of Iceland Innovation Week. City staff are attending the events, with the city actively participating in several programs.
Celebrating innovation achievements
Reykjavík City has enhanced resident services through innovation, and this week several videos highlighting these initiatives will be shared on social media. Results of these efforts will also be available on the website reykjavik.is/en/innovationweek.
The first video, released earlier today, features the Free Shop in Gerðuberg, where residents can donate and collect used items and borrow tools from self-service cabinets.
Kolaportið transforms into innovation hub
The complete Innovation Week schedule is available at Icelandinnovationweek.is. Events are happening throughout the city, with part of this year's program moving to Kolaportið, where exhibition booths will showcase the latest innovation sector trends for visitors. Reykjavík is participating in collaboration with Business Iceland through a booth for Reykjavík Science City.
The Digital Council will host a forum meeting at Kolaportið on Wednesday, May 14, at 1:30pm. During the meeting, council members will engage in open dialogue with business representatives about innovation initiatives in Reykjavík City. Inga Rós will present on the City's data initiatives, including the implementation of waste sensors. Gunnar Dofri from Sorpa will then demonstrate how this technology benefits their operations and provide real-world examples. The meeting will take place at the Reykjavík Science City booth and serves as a platform for conversation, networking, and showcasing projects from both the City and RSC. Visitors will have opportunities to learn about innovations and speak directly with the people behind them.
The city is also participating in the launch event for the Reykjavík Startup Guide, with Dóra Björt Guðjónsdóttir representing Reykjavík City on a panel discussion. The Startup Guide Reykjavík meeting runs from 3:30 to 4:30pm on Wednesday.
