Breiðholtsskóli and Hagaskóli advance to Skrekkur finals
The first semifinal of Skrekkur 2025 was held at Reykjavík City Theater yesterday evening, Nov. 3. 230 young people in Reykjavík performed original stage pieces and displayed a wide range of talents on stage.
Video games and fake news among the topics
Breiðholtsskóli advanced to the finals with the performance "The Lying Realm,” (I. Lygaríkið) which explores the struggle with video game addiction, and Hagaskóli with the performance "Sing with Us Now," (I. Syngið nú með okkur) which examines how propaganda and fake news can influence young people. Eight primary schools participated in this first semifinal. In addition to Breiðholtsskóli and Hagaskóli, the schools were Austurbæjarskóli, Álftamýrarskóli, Hólabrekkuskóli, Ingunnarskóli, Seljaskóli and Sæmundarskóli.
A total of 742 students from 25 schools are participating in Skrekkur this year. All performances are available on the UngRUV.is website. The cover photo shows Breiðholtsskóli's performance.
