Reykjavík City will participate in The Big Plogging Day on Sunday, April 27. The City encourages residents to join together and collect litter in their neighborhoods. Two vehicles will be making rounds to collect bags, and residents should use the Suggestion Portal to report collection locations.
Staff from the city land District Depots will be on duty collecting bags that ploggers report through plogging pages or the notification website. On Saturday and Sunday, two city vehicles will be circulating to collect bags.
Those who need bags for collecting litter can pick them up at the city's District Depots. Homeowners' associations or groups planning to organize plogging events can obtain bags from District Depots. Wearing gloves and high-visibility vests is recommended when plogging along roads or streets.
The Kjalarnes District Depot will accept bags from 10am to 4pm on Sunday. District Depots in Jafnasel and at Fiskislóð will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sunday.
Let's Plog Together
It's recommended to take bags to Sorpa recycling centers, which will accept unsorted waste in clear bags throughout the weekend. The Rotary movement in Iceland is organizing the event on behalf of Plogging in Iceland.
