Are you organizing a Reykjavík City Festival for 2026-2028?

Reykjavík City's Culture and Sports Committee is now accepting applications from festivals held in the city to receive the title City Festival of Reykjavík 2026-2028. This title comes with a three-year partnership agreement that includes funding and other services. Applications are now open on My Pages for Reykjavík City, with a deadline of May 31.
The City Festival Fund supports the ongoing operations, development and financial stability of festivals in Reykjavík that have already proven their significant value to the city's cultural life, international connections, positive impact on tourism and Reykjavík's image, and economic benefits.
Festivals that meet the following conditions have the opportunity to be selected as Reykjavík City Festivals:
- strengthen culture and daily life in Reykjavík.
- are open to the public, accessible and visible.
- have been held at least three times.
- are held annually.
- have an international connection.
- last for three days or longer.
- are professionally managed.
- practice good governance and operational transparency.
- meet demands for professionalism and quality.
- support cultural work in the city's districts.
- contribute to job creation.
Additionally, factors such as innovation, children's culture, attendance, stability, development potential, timing within the year, festivals' potential for self-financing, environmental issues, collaboration with City institutions, and their reflection of the community's diversity with respect to guests and participants are considered.
