Muggur is a fund administered by the Culture, Sports, and Leisure Council, the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists and Myndstef.

The fund supports fine artists for temporary stays abroad for exhibitions, workshops, or other comparable fine arts projects.

Who is the fund for?

To receive funding from the Muggur residency fund, applicants must be members in good standing with SÍM and submit the required documentation confirming an invitation to participate in a fine arts event or access to facilities for artistic work. Funding is not provided for workshop stays when full residency grants are included with the allocation.

The fund supports fine artists for temporary stays abroad for exhibitions, workshops, or other comparable fine arts projects. In this way, the fund promotes the fine arts in Reykjavík and enhances Reykjavík City's image as a progressive Cultural City worldwide. The establishment of the fund helps to make Reykjavík City a platform for international artistic movements.

How to apply for a grant?

Applications must include a detailed and clear description of the project, information about the exhibit, exhibition venue, workshop location, studio, conference, or other relevant details as applicable. Applications must also include confirmation from the person responsible for the project in the host country—such as an exhibition curator, museum director, gallery owner, workshop director, studio manager, or another relevant contact, depending on the project's nature.

The project dates must be provided.

Grant recipients enter into an agreement with the fund, which will be finalized after the allocation. As part of this agreement, they must submit a brief report on how the grant was used, among other requirements.

Applications should be thorough, clear, and concise. Applicants should read the rules and guidelines carefully.

Only online applications will be accepted. The application deadline is midnight on the advertised date.
