Livestock keeping
All livestock must be kept in custody throughout the year and the livestock caretaker has full responsibility concerning the livestock.
Free range
Livestock escaping from custody should be captured wherever possible and transferred to safe custody operated by the Department of Environment & Planning. The livestock caretaker will be notified of the livestock running free as soon as possible and shall collect the livestock and pay for the costs of its capture, feeding and housing.
Incidents relating to free range livestock should be reported to the Department of Environment & Planning at 411 1111 or the police.
Incidents of animal abuse should be reported to the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority or the police.
